Just like for tattoos, we require valid picture identification for all persons being pierced. We need to verify both the "who" and the "how old", so we need a picture, a name, & a birthdate. See below for a list of what does & doesn't work.
We do not pierce anyone under 18 years of age without a parent or legal guardian present. This means, if you are under 18 & would like a piercing, you must bring:
- Your parent or legal guardian. Bringing your uncle, sister, grandpa, etc. probably does not count in this situation, but if it does, they will have documentation proving this.
- Your ID. See below for a list of examples.
- Your Parent/guardian's ID
- Documents supporting guardianship. See below for a list of examples.
IDs we accept:
- Government issued ID card or driver's license.
- For those under 16, a Sherrif's ID is preferred, but we can accept:
- a school ID (please no older than 1 year) and your Birth Certificate.
Supporting documents can include:
- For a parent, this would be your birth certificate, as long as they are named on the certificate.
- In situations where someone else is your gaurdian, they will have suppotring documentation, most likely from the court that granted the guardianship.
- When the last names (child & parent) do not match - like in many cases of step-parents - we will ask to see proof of guardianship (see above) or proof of marriage to the biological parent, and proof that this is the parent you live with (such as their ID & a report card with your name & address).
This may all seem harsh, but we are protecting the minors being pierced as much as we are covering our own butt. We have known of situations where minors have gotten a "cool aunt", or even a friend's mom to play "mommy" for the day, gone to less-than reputable shops, and gotten a piercing they ultimately end up regretting.
Hopefully our standards will encourage minors to get their parents involved, open discussion about this can happen, as well as maybe even do some research on the subject as a family. We are available to help with all this. We know that most parents just want the facts, and would like to know the risks their child is taking are minimized.

- [4]Here "Lip" refers to all standard, non-"surface" lip piercings, including (but not limited to) those commonly known as "labret", "monroe", & "medusa".
